The legendary group Source of Labor began in 1989, comprised of Jonathan Moore aka Wordsayer, Negus I, and DJ Kamikaze. In 1997, Kamikaze was replaced by Vitamin D. Later the group would regularly included musicians Dvonne Lewis, Darrius Willrich, and Kevin Hudson. After the release of their classic album, Stolen Lives, distributed by Subverse Music, SOL and the collective Jasiri (Swahili for ‘courage’) Media Group would on to change the landscape of attention and access for Seattle Hip Hop music.
