DJ Scene

DJ SceneDJ Scene was born in 1978 in Everett and moved to the Beacon Hill neighborhood of Seattle at the age of 18. Having been involved with music for years as a drummer for various local rock bands, he started DJing in 1997 to become his own one man band, playing some of his first gigs at Jefferson Community Center, and spinning for Massive Monkees and MADK. He was co-creator and producer of Hip Hop 101, a local TV show established to give artists a platform on the air. He credits individuals like Khazm, Dirty Dev, B-Mello, DV-One, Massive, and WD4D as key players who influenced his music and the Hip Hop community in which he was able to hone his craft.  In 2002, Scene won the Northwest DMC Championship, which marked a new era of visibility for him in the local scene. He became a fixture at Yo Son!, a popular Hip Hop weekly residency in Seattle that Rolling Stone magazine called “one of the country’s top parties”, and expanded to live mixed radio on XM Radio 67 and a his #1 rated live mix show on San Francisco’s WILD 94.9FM. He was voted ‘Best Open Format DJ’ by RemixReport.com and has won ‘‘Vegas Best Pool DJ’ title from JackColton.com twice. He also produced Naughty by Nature’s official remix to “Hip Hop Hurray” in 2013. Currently, his monthly podcast has 350,000 subscribers, and he is still a widely sought after asset on the national club circuit.
