206 Zulu 17th Anniversary Kick-Off Event
Friday, February 12, 2021

Members of the international Hip Hop community will convene in a virtual summit on Friday, February 12th to discuss their unique experiences set forth during these unprecedented times. “Pangea: Hip Hop Heals”, a compilation produced by emcee, artist and community organizer King Khazm, spotlights diverse perspectives surrounding the current Coronavirus pandemic and related experiences. The album features 50 emcees, producers, DJs and artists representing 17 countries.

In April of 2020, the U.S. Department of State awarded 25 Citizen Diplomacy Action Fund grants for public service projects that address issues related to the COVID-19 crisis and help build community resilience, including Khazm’s Pangea project.

“We are thrilled that our U.S. alumni are using the skills and knowledge they gained during their exchange programs overseas to join the worldwide effort against COVID-19,” said Marie Royce, Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs at the U.S. Department of State. “These Citizen Diplomacy Action Fund public service projects uplift communities and provide them with resources and education needed to fight the pandemic.”

This event will include in depth conversation with international Hip Hop artists including Dumi Right (USA), Emile YX? (South Africa), Eli Almic (Uruguay), Maze022 (India), Tati Chaves (Costa Rica), ZDC (Australia) and more.

This project is made possible with the support of community partners 206 Zulu, Fresh Chopped Beats / MADK Productions, Heal the Hood, Hip Hop Consciente, Mighty4, Next Level USA and Zulu Union and is sponsored in part by the Citizen Diplomacy Action Fund for U.S. Alumni, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State with funding provided by the U.S. Government and administered by Partners of the Americas.
